The A-Channel

I'm trying to teach Fergus to catch a ball... I don't think he'll ever figure it out.

Business Examiner

The photo I shot for The Business Examiner ad is apparently up in local bus shelters around town.

I haven't seen it yet... so if any of you Victoria peeps see one...please let me know the location so I can getz me a photo of it.

Well yesterday was a very full day... we got both walls up, put up drywall and mudded everything, 1-800 Junk came and took away our horrible old desk and all of our garbage (woo hoo). Tonight we're going to start sanding, that's my least favourite part.

Gerry did a little tiling on the part of the floor where the stupid little mini-wall was.
Stuart & Gerry did a lot of cutting, hammering and using my favourite tool the BULLET HAMMER or more commonly known as The Remington Power Hammer.

We also hid a $5 bill somewhere in between the new walls. We thought it might be exciting for the person who tears down these walls 50 years from now to find some money and a hello from the past.

Last night we got everything set up for business... it looks a little ragged but we're ready to work today and Gerry, Stuart and I will keep plugging away during the evenings and should have everything done by the end of the week (I hope).

The painting will probably commence at the end of the week. I can't wait (she says sarcastically).

I want to thank Stuart and Becca (the hardest working receptionist in the world) for getting down and dirty and helping. Good friends are hard to find when you need to do renovations. *laugh*

Last night we ripped out the flash desk and the mini-wall by the front door. Moved up the reception desk about 15 feet and we made our first of two walls for the new drawing area. We made a mess... but it's getting there.

Hi... I'm Bloaty Mc.Bloaterson

My stomach is huge and I'm exhausted. All this food I have to eat before I can do my allergy blood test is killing me.

I've eaten a large majority of the items on the list but have been avoiding the ones that I know are going to kill me. I had white rice tonight. YUCKERS! I had some pineapple yesterday and immediately had to go lay down for a power-nap. I bet pineapple is high up on the list. I've been avoiding other items I react to like lemon and orange until I have nothing to do that day.

We're starting renovations on the tattoo shop tonight and I can work around a gigantic uncomfortable bloated belly but I need energy to build walls.

The renos are minor, but I do have to pull out my bucket of red paint and paint 2 more walls once we're done.... and I said I'd never paint red walls again...Never say never. *laugh*

I'll post some photos of the demo later. :)
I'm off to wield my hammer!

In other news... I went to visit my naturopath Dr. Amy yesterday and we're working on my tummy issues. A number of years ago I was in a car accident and hurt my back, my doctor at the time prescribed some pain killers which stripped the lining of my stomach and sent me to the emergency doubled over in pain where they gave me some other medication that made me dizzy. It was a gong show.

So I took control of the situation by insisting they send me to a back specialist (was feeling better from the accident in about 2 weeks - thanks for nothing doctor) but unfortunately ever since then my stomach hasn't been the same. I worked on healing my tummy with natural remedies, and it worked ok for a while but this last year things have changed.

I have had quite a bit of personal stress in the last year and my tummy has become very sensitive to all sorts of food items and has gotten to the point now where I've had to eliminate A LOT of things from my diet just to feel normal, I even had to cancel my trip to Toronto last year because of my stomach.

So time for a new plan... Time to heal my gut for good!!

First order of business is a blood test to determine what I'm allergic to. I had scratch-testing done about 15 years ago, but I am now reacting to things I never had a problem with before... so a new test will be done at the end of the week and I'm excited and dreading the results.

This week I have to eat EVERYTHING I think I may be allergic to and get that into my system before the test. You should have seen Gerry's face light up when I told him that. It's been MONTHS since we've had tomatoes and I think he envisioned a week of hot dogs and nachos. *laugh*

We had nachos last night for dinner where I ate corn, salsa and yves ground round (all three things kill my tummy). Besides the tummy pain... I blow up like a balloon. I woke up today and I have the stomach of a 8 month pregnant woman... it's not a good look because it's just a corn baby in there and corn babies are not cute.

I also ate a wheat pizza with tomato sauce and green peppers and red onions yesterday for lunch (all things that kill my stomach) and I finished it and had to go lay down immediately for a nap. I was completely overwhelmed with fatigue. Crazy.

I can't wait till this week is over and I can get this blood test done and out of the way. Once the test is done I am going on a cleanse that will help clear out my system and then we can work on healing my insides.

I can't wait to get my body feeling like it should.

Whiskers

I had a dream last night that a little mouse named Whiskers joined our fur family. He liked to sleep in between the pages of books and when you'd call his name "WHISKERS WHISKERS" he'd come running and scramble up the side of your arm and give your cheek a little kiss.

Interpretations on that one? Anyone?? :)

I woke up at about 2am. Cracked my neck and suddenly felt better (as you know I've been feeling like crap all week). Is that all it takes? A neck crack?? I looked beside me and Fergus was laying flat on his back with his legs splayed out like a star fish. I was too tired to get out of bed and get my camera, but I wish I had take a photo cause it was the funniest thing I've ever seen.

It's our new day off today.
Gerry and I are now taking Sun/Mon instead of Tues/Wed. It feels weird... we're off to the beach for a walk. Let's hope Fergus doesn't pee on anyone this time.

OH WAIT!
I forgot to tell you... I was walking up the beach listening to Vegan Freak Radio on my I-pod when I heard someone yelling. "Excuse me! EXCUSE ME" but I didn't think it had anything to do with me, so I kept walking ... Suddenly someone grabbed my shoulders and yelled "YOUR DOG PEE'D ON MY BLANKET".

I removed my ear-buds and said "Oh dear. So sorry."

She put her hands on her hips and said "SORRY? You're SORRY??" Like I had just insulted her or something. Then she started to give me some serious attitude ... so I said "Welcome to dog beach." and put my ear-buds back in and kept walking.

I think she probably hates me.

Half Nelson

Rented Half Nelson tonight... Great movie!

Ryan Gosling's acting is so effortless. He can say 20 pages of dialogue with one facial expression. If I could get him to quit smoking, then I think he might be the perfect man.

Well actually I think Gene Kelly is the perfect man, but Ryan is a close 2nd. Although I've never seen him dance... so Gene may have a fight on his hands.

migraine

I spent the entire day in bed yesterday and woke up today still feeling out of sorts from that stupid migraine, but I got dressed anyway and did some errands. I'm wiped out.

I have a massage booked for Monday... Hopefully that will set me straight.

migraine

Gerry and I went and saw Grindhouse yesterday (what a fantastic double feature and so much gory fun from start to finish) then came home and collapsed on the couch with a migraine. Not sure if it was from the movie or from something else but it's the 3rd or 4th migraine I've had in the last couple of years. I've never had them before that and boy-howdy do they ever suck. I thought I was going to throw up ... it hurt so bad.

I woke up today and the migraine was gone but I feel like I've had the life drained out of me... I guess migraines suck up a lot of energy.

Anyone else have them? Anyone else suddenly develop them in their late 30's? Maybe it's a sign that I'm pre-menopausal??

toothpaste

So with Toms of Main be purchased by Colgate. Ugh. For shame. I've been on the search for a new favourite toothpaste. I've been trying all sorts of different onces and for a while was stuck on Kiss My Face toothpaste.

But now I'm keen on Eco-dent mint toothpowder. Yes... powder. It's similar to the toothpaste recipe in HIAV but it gets bubbly once it hits your mouth. Weee! I have never had fresher, cleaner teeth!! I'm not getting paid to say this. *laugh* I swear. I likey this stuff a lot...

What's your favourite cruelty free toothpaste?

Rasterbating Fergus...

Went to Rasterbator and printed out Fergus.

I've been wanting to hang something above our bed since we moved in here but I'm so scared we're gonna be in an earthquake and whatever I hang above us will kill us... so I made a Fergus poster. All this thing can do is smother us in doggie goodness.

Mind the mess... I'm spring cleaning.

I forgot to tell you that my Fergus photo made the cover of VIP pet magazine!! Not sure why the fish won out for the big photo over my Fergus... but at least he's on the cover!! :)

Wow

I had a fantastic nights sleep... I think it was all because of Fergus. He stuck to me like glue all night and with Gerry on the other side of me I was a Sarah Sandwich. Paralyzed and unable to move... I slept solid until about 9am today.

I shot some photos for The Uno festival yesterday (using my friend Champagne Sparkles as a model). Can't show you the photos (so here's a photo of her from a different session)... but when the posters for the festival are all done, I'll post that. Yay a paying gig!!

I also shot some photos for The Business Examiner a little while back. Those photos are going to be used in bus shelters around town. I'm so excited you have no idea!! Yay. Another paying gig!!

It's our day off today... so Gerry and I are going to the hardware store! YAY!! We're gonna do some minor renos to the shop, so we gotta shop for drywall etc. Oh dear... I see painting more red walls in my future. Ugh.

It's not often that reading a book can make me laugh out loud, but this book is hilarious and weird and such a joy to read. I highly recommend it... actually read the entire Coupland cataloge and you'll be happy that you did.

I feel like I've run out of things to talk about...

Maybe it's cause I'm tired. I've had 2 terrible nights sleeps ... 2 terrible night sleeps... I've had 2 terrible nights in a row of no sleep and now I feel like poop and can't make coherent sentences. Thank god for spell-check.

I'm seriously feeling blah. I must be pmsing... forgot to write down when my last period was and now I have NO idea when I'm going to get my period. Either that or I've suddenly become clinically depressed and paranoid and bloated all at once.

The bloating... fine... But what to you guys do to deal with the feelings of impending doom that loom over you before you have your period. I'm all for embracing my menses and loving my uterus and all that... but there has to be a way to make the paranoid, depressing, freaking out, part of the pms more enjoyable.

Any thoughts?
