I am going mad.
The noise from the construction around my condo is driving me insane. I can't have my windows open and listen to music or watch tv at the same time... it's that noisy. If I have the windows closed then it's stifling hot. Time to re-think where we live ... I think Gerry and I have become chronic movers. Is that a disease??

Galloping Goose

Gerry and I had the day off today and we decided to take Fergus on a nice long bike ride along The Galloping Goose. I think The Goose is one of Victoria's best kept secrets... it's quite magical. There you are in the center of the dirty city and you're riding your bike where the train rails used to be and you are surrounded by over grown trees, birds-a-plenty and fresh clean air. It's lovely.

We rode from our place in Vic West (downtown) to Planet Organic out in East Sannich. We bought some black olive hummus and rice crackers and had a nice little picnic in the shade by Swan Lake.
Fergus didn't walk/run with us the entire trip... he spent most of his time in my bike basket catching the wind in his ears.
Honestly it was hard to keep upright on the bike I was laughing so hard every time the wind caught him.
Speaking of Fergus... he sure does fully relax when he's in Becca's arms. As we got close to home there is quite a bit of construction going on near our place and we rode by a sweaty workman who yelled over the bulldozer noise "My girlfriend loves your cookbooks! We had guacamole last night!" It was super cute...

I think I may have gotten a bit too much sun even with all the sunscreen I slathered on my face. I need a good summer hat.

2 days

I tried. For 2 days in a row I parted my hair on the right instead of the left. It just doesn't work!! I'm back to the left. PHEW!

I'm a little depressed about the soy today... not all the mock meat stuff cause I don't really care about that stuff. It's the little things like my favourite Japanese restaurant that has these yummy deep fried tofu sticks with a sesame sauce. I'll miss those. And Miso soup. And especially edamame.

Oh edamame... I never got to say good-bye.

Not only will it make you a whiny bitch during the tattoo it will cause you to have a melt down when Gerry bandages you up and you will storm out without saying good-bye and bawl all the way home because you thought he was being mean and insensitive.

We watched Who The #$&% Is Jackson Pollock last night... I highly recommend it.

I had a GIANT photo shoot yesterday... I feel hung over. It's such an exhausting process but I also love every minute of it. Can't wait to share the results!!

In other news... Gerry and I walked around Thetis Lake the other day and I felt like I was on drugs. It is SO unbelievably green in the forest right now. Technicolor. It was pissing rain but we hardly got wet thanks to the new leaves... ahhh spring.

What a way to start my day by reading THIS piece of crap in The NY Times. I'm so pissed at this article that I have nothing intelligent to say. All I could do this morning is swear like a sailor and then swear some more.

Isa wrote a little something about it over at her LJ. She seems to be able to put into words how frustrated I am... but the 3 hour time difference she has to digest this piece of crap article probably helped. I can't wait to wrestle Isa... I'm going to smother her with love.

That poor baby didn't die because he was vegan... he died because of uneducated parents. I've met plenty of nutritionally uneducated meaty parents ... this isn't a vegan issue.

So to make me feel better I went over to The Herbivore Blog and looked at photos of Ruby who is a shining example of a healthy vegan baby who is going to grow up and change the world!! Go Rubes! Go!

Did I ever tell you about the time I called Chyna Doll because she was participating in The Surreal Life Fame Games?? I can't remember....

A friend asked me to call her because Chyna needed to gather as many "famous people" phone calls as possible to stay on The Fame Games. I was like... me?? Despite me thinking I wasn't famous enough for Chyna to collect my name the person who confirmed the phone calls for Chyna knew about me and the cookbooks so I guess that makes me modestly famous. *laugh*I also had a really nice chat with Chyna for about 5 minutes and I ended up sending her a cookbook because she was so interested in what I do and my Veganism. I never heard back from her if she enjoyed the book ... but I'm sure she must of. :)

I finally watched the "phone in" episode on Much More Music and was SO stoked to see my name on the same list as Belinda Carlisle!! *woot*

Went swimming tonight with The Big Ger and on the way home I found a $20 bill on the ground. I picked it up and Gerry tried to grab it from me and I held onto it tightly and realized that it was actually $40!!

WE FOUND $40 on the ground!!

I wanted to spend it all on lottery tickets but Gerry says you only get lucky once.

Who says you can't fit anything into a smartcar?? Check this out... yesterday we filled the car up with a 6 foot long counter for the new shop front-desk.

Yay Vega!

Yay for the Vega Whole Food Smoothie Infusion.

Last night I cut up a mango and blended it with some blueberries, raspberries, about 1/2 cup coconut milk and added 1 pouch of the Smoothie Infusion and enough rice milk to get a good smoothie consistency. It made the yummiest dinner. Yes. This is what I ate for dinner. I was pooped. Didn't feel like cooking.

I finished this Stephen King book Gerry made me read called CELL. Lots of zombies and blood.. fun read. I did ended up having zombie/death dreams all night. Maybe I should read something a little less gory. Hmmmm.

I am exhausted. This cleanse is killing me... I'm tired. I've lost the will to clean or cook. I am sleeping like a zombie. Do zombie's sleep? Anyway I'm pooped.

I'm also now on Facebook. Jesus. I have a website, a forum, a blog, a myspace, live journal and now a facebook. God help me.

So Fergus looses his shit every time I drive to the grocery store... why? Cause my friend Jodi works at Chez Terri's pet store in the same complex and I always drop him off to see her while I go get food. She loads him up on treats and then we hang out and then I take my food home. I don't mind that he gets excited about seeing her... he should.. she's rad... but the whining. Oi my god the whining. It starts right when I turn left at Fairfield road and doesn't stop until I park the car in front of the store. That's about 10+ blocks. It's horrid. What can I do to make it stop? Anyone??

Now that it's nice out and I can have all my windows open to let the fresh spring air in... my neighbour (who lives directly under my window) has started bbqing... gag.

This is my 2nd night without Gerry and I've decided that while sleeping like a starfish in the middle of the bed is fun the first night... the 2nd night is lonely.

Thank you for all your soy sauce alternatives. Unfortunately I can't have any sugar (including molasses) or Miso. Le Sigh.

The Uno Festival is using my photos in their ad campaign!! WOO HOO! If you live on Vancouver Island you should check out the festival and for that matter all the shows that The Intrepid Theater does. The lovely Champagne Sparkles was my model for this job.

Last night...

Last night while we were walking the dog we bumped into a very drunk acquaintance of mine from way back in the day. I gave him a high-five and said a quick hello.

As we walked away I could hear him talking to his equally drunk friend. "Dude. You have no idea how rad she is. That woman back there is a quality role model."

I looked at Gerry and we laughed and laughed.

Blood

Took my blood test yesterday... FINALLY! Now we wait for the results. Dum dee dum dummmmm.

The woman who took my blood was really nice and talked to me the entire time to make me feel less nervous. She thought it was funny that I was afraid of needles even though I'm covered in tattoos. IT'S TOTALLY DIFFERENT! I hate that rush you feel as they fill up the vials. Blech.

Tomorrow I'm starting my cleanse/hypoallergenic diet. I don't think it should be too hard... I pretty much eat like this anyway, but I do have to cut out all soy/tofu products and potatoes (SOB)

The next two months should be fun...

Eddie needs a home!!

This cuddly little Maltese named Eddie needs a home. This 10 month old boy is sweet and loves to cuddle. He is house-broken, excellent to groom and follows you everywhere. Unfortunately he was hit by a car and had to have his front left leg amputated, but this hasn’t stopped him from enjoying life. He jumps off the couch and can run circles around any full-legged companion.

The light

There is a light at the end of the paint tunnel!!All the major wall painting is done... we are putting all the knick knacks back and now I just have to do all the little crappy stuff like the trim around the door, etc etc. I am pretending we're almost done...even though deep down I know that all the little finicky finishing stuff takes just as long as the big major stuff.

We've been doing renos for a week now and I think I'm suffering from renovation fatigue. We managed to only be closed for business one day ... so evenings is when I go in and do my stuff. Should only be a few more days... I hope.

I've ALMOST eaten everything on my list so I can go take that allergy blood test. It's been difficult to eat everything and work on the shop at the same time. It's taking me a little longer to get through the list then I thought.

This morning I had a piece of an orange and I was so nervous. I didn't have much of a reaction, but my tongue was a little funny... I think I have about 8-10 items left to go and then I can get my test done. I can't WAIT!

Yesterday Gerry, Fergus and I went for a long walk on the beach. It's the last day for dogs on Willows Beach until the end of the summer... so we wanted to make it a good one. We then went to the bank where Fergus nervously waited for Gerry to return.

"Poppa?"
"POPPA?"
"Sigh...where is he?"
And at long last... I found one of the bus shelters with my photo! HOW EXCITING!!
