Weird Science

Ok. I watched Weird Science for the FIRST TIME ever last night. I don't know how I missed this classic 80's movie the first time around. It came out in 1985 so I was probably too busy smoking the weed to go see it.

I thought it was pretty terrible... But it sure is fun seeing celebrities before they had their teeth fixed. Bill Paxton's teeth are TERRIBLE and Robert Downey Jr had a serious gap in the front!!

This just in:

The search is over for the tattooed man whose picture was uploaded to the Internet via a stolen computer. The man took the computer to the Victoria police station last night but he insists he's not involved in its theft or the theft of five other computers from a Vancouver business.

Investigators are checking the man's story that he bought the computer from a buddy who had purchased it from someone else. Thousands of people checked out the man's picture after learning it was taken when he opened a file on the stolen I-Mac that automatically snapped his photo and uploaded it to a photo-sharing site.

Fun with Husband...

Had fun with Husband on our day off yesterday. We wallpapered a wall in the dining room and I think we did a pretty good job for never wallpapering before!! A few minor details I wish we could fix... but nothing too major.

I'm kinda proud of us. :)

Now I need to re-cover the chair seats, find a sweet teak side-board and get a new rug for under the dining table because our other rug was leaving weird glue marks on the floor. Thanks a lot Ikea. Pffft.

Is there a way to set up my Mac so I can push a button and minimize all my windows so I can see my desktop??

You know how on a PC you can just push the "desktop" icon?? Anyone??

Leg

So before I left for Toronto I had my friend Eckel tattoo me! I wanted a magnifying glass with the words FOCUS underneath it to remind me to focus on the things I want in life and not be so distracted by outside bull-crap. This is what he came up with and I think it's beautiful!!

My favourite part is how the crow pokes out from the top of my knee socks. :)

Vegan Police

I've had some people asking me what I meant by "vegan police"...
It's someone who thinks it's their job to "bust" you on not being vegan enough.

Heart on your sleeve...

When I was in Toronto I hung out with my best buddy Steve at LEFT FEET and talked shoes, leaky roofs, idiot landlords and about how frustrated we get with the "vegan police". I think I hung out there for over 2 hours ... and as always had a great time.Beside/connected to LEFT FEET is a great little store called Heart On Your Sleeve. Natalie is a sweetheart and her store is fantastic... If you're in the Toronto area you must check out both stores and the Kensington area.

Did I tell you about the poo?

So I slept through most of my flight from Toronto to Vancouver. I was woken up by a woman saying "What took so long? Did you fall in?" to someone coming out of the bathroom... ha ha ha. Bad joke. I shuffled by my seat mate (who refused to get up for me ... so I had to slide my bum across his chest to get by - thanks buddy) and stood in line to pee.

Got into the washroom and did my best to pee without touching anything. As I'm squatting over the toilet ... I look across at the door and I notice something smudged on the door. Is it? Could it be? OH MY GOD! Someone smeared poo on the door. ON THE DOOR!

I felt like I was in a horror movie - you know - when everything turns into slow motion and the person in the movie realizes that they're in a room covered with blood... only this time it's poo. There was poo on the wall. Poo on the mirror. POO IN THE SINK! Who does that? Who poos in the sink?

I immediately got up and got out of the bathroom as quickly and cleanly as possible and told the flight attendant. She looked mortified (and rightfully so) and went into the bathroom with rubber gloves and cleaner. Poor dear...I got back to my seat and immediately wiped my entire body down with a mini-bottle of hand sanitizer that I always carry with me when I travel.

DEAR PASSENGERS!
Here's a tip. Don't poo in the sink. Don't spread your poo around. If you're having problems in the bathroom... ask for help.

Next time I fly I'm going to wear adult diapers and wrap myself in bubble wrap... Do you think homeland security will have a problem with that?

dress up day!

A friend of mine found some photos of me from a "dress up day" we had about 10+ years ago... this just proves I've always been a camera whore. :)

Whenever I watch Pretty In Pink I usually skip the ending because it makes me so furious. I mean... why would Andie pick Blaine over Duckie? It makes no sense...

And another thing. When Iona starts dressing like a "normal person" because she wants a relationship with a man... the feminist in me wants to ring John Hughes's neck.

Veg Fair!

I lost an important person in my life this month and I wanted to thank everyone involved with Veg Fair for letting me re-arrange my schedule so I could fly home for the funeral. It's really taken the wind out of my sails... but I'll be back soon.

Taking a break...

Thanks to everyone who came to Veg Fair. I had a lovely time as usual... and your love and support at the show was wonderful! I felt like a rock star!! I'm on my way to Vancouver for a funeral and then I'm taking a bit of a blog break. Don't worry. I'll be back. But for now just talk amongst yourselves... :)

Just a few things going on with me that I thought you should know...

I'm going to be at the Toronto Veg Fair next weekend!!

--Sat Sept 8th at 5pm where I will be demoing Cinnamon Donut Holes and talking about vegan baking.
--Sun Sept 9th at 4pm I will be hosting a game show called Canada's Next Top Vegan. It's going to be a lot of crazy fun. I hope you can make it to both demos!!
