poor seagull

Took the dog for a walk this afternoon. He's been such a good boy as I've been fighting this damn cold. I keep thinking I'm getting better... but then I get worse. GO AWAY COLD!! Go away.

We went to the park by my house and Fergus started to chase a seagull. I managed to catch Fergus before he caught up to him, thank god. The poor seagull was covered in blood and his wing was very broken.

I ran to the vet (around the corner) to ask if they could help and they were useless... so I ran home and called the SPCA and they were very cool about it. Sent someone over right away to help this poor gull.

I hope he's resting comfortably.
I'm going back to bed.
Sniffle.

Hi Sarah,
I'm so glad you could help the seagull. Could you please tell me what is SPCA and how to contact them? (I live in New Haven, CT). Do you know if they would do anything like help an animal that was struck in the road but still alive, like a racoon?

Hope your cold gets better soon.

Best,
Tracy

I don't know your e-mail... so I hope you read this.

The SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is The Humane Society where you are at. You have one in your area: http://www.creatures.com/CT.html

You'll have to contact your local chapter to see if they help with non-domesticated animals. :)

Thanks Sarah. That's what I gathered when I tried to do some research after leaving the comment for you. I think Humane Society deals more with domesticated animals. We need a wild animal division, or an SPCA chapter. Thanks again for responding. I am at tbenedi@yahoo.com, and I am on your elist which I enjoy.
Best,
Tracy
