my dog is so smart...

So Gerry and I have started working out at our local gym... we have always had a hard time fitting regular exercise into our lives, so we decided to turn over a new leaf and start getting up earlier and hitting the gym before work.

Unsure of what to do with our howling dog... we leave him in the car and let him hang out in the parking lot while we work out.

Fergus is not a morning dog. He will stay under the covers until noon if I let him... so we have to get him up and with bleary doggie eyes staring up at us we take him down to the car.

Well Fergus had just decided that he'll have none of that anymore. *laugh*

He now hids in his doggie tent or under the bed when we start getting ready to leave in the morning. So the last 4 days in a row I've video taped him to make sure we don't have a repeat of last time... and he's fine. My dog has taught himeself how to be "ok" with us leaving. It's crazy! He's so smart...

So now we have to test him with an evening out. See how he does... :)

You left him in the car? Uh, isn't that possibly dangerous?

How is it dangerous Danielle??

As long as you confiscate his set of keys before you leave him in there, he should be fine....heh heh...

Seriously now, the weather is much cooler now so there's no danger...and its a Smart Car...not much room to get into trouble there.

Plus he's not sitting in the sun. He's in the parkade and the windows are cracked. He just curls up and sleeps ... :)

Even in the shade with the windows cracked, the interior of a car can get very warm very quickly. While the chances are nothing will happen, there is always the possibility and I certainly wouldn't recommend it. Mind you, my parents used to leave my brother and I in the car, in the sun, on the hottest days of the year. If you tried to do that today, you'd likely be arrested.

Glad to hear that Fergus is finally settling down at home and that he loves his new castle! Now if only I could convince my cats to sleep in something similar and not all over everything else I own (my apartment is constantly coated in fur...).

He's not in the shade or in the sun people. He's in an underground parking lot!! :)

Karen. I remember not wearing a seat belt in the car and standing on the front seat so I could see better. My Dad's arm was my seat belt... he'd whip it across my body every time we came to a stop.

Crazy huh??

I know what you mean Sarah! We used to ride around in the back of an open pick up truck, flying down the dirt roads at break neck speed. All the kids used to fight to sit over the wheels and we'd be standing up, sitting down, walking around, oblivious to the fact that we could be thrown out and onto the road at every bounce. Ahhhh, those were the days...
