How It All Vegan...

So this is the original How It All Vegan that we printed out on my computer and bound ourselves in the living room. It was only about 50 pages and man... I was font crazy when I lay this out. *laugh* If you have one... save it... it will be worth at least double the cover price in a few years. (Note: we sold them for $3.)

Here's a few outtakes from the HIAV cover shoot. As you can see we look CRAZY in this photo but it gives you a good idea of all the food we had that ended up being cropped out of the photo. Man... look at that pecan pie!
This photo was just a fun shot that the photographer took with my fish-eye lens... I love it... we had a lot of fun at this shoot.
This is the studio apartment where we took the photo. The stove was vintage and I brought over ALL of my kitchy kitchen stuff for the set. We ended up only using a small portion of what I brought over (you can see that my happy-face cookie jar didn't make the cut). We also had a food-stylist on that shoot where I learned just how fake cookbook photography really is.

Garden of Eden...

I've been going through my photos lately and found some of the mock-up covers for the books. I thought you might be interested to see what "could have been".

This photo was in the running for a while... I liked that I was offering the apple to kind of play on the title Garden of Vegan(eden), but Tanya's expression didn't match mine... so we went with the shot you have now on GOV. We also played with colors for a while and one of them was gold. I'm glad we went with the cherry red instead. :)

I've been looking through all my old cdr's looking at old photos and videos and I stumbled across this montage of Fergus when he was a wee pup. HOLY CRAP! He's so cute it hurts my teeth.


And while you're at it... why not watch Fergus wrestle his best friend Rex.

Dunno if anyone caught Sir Paul on Larry King last night talking about the Seal Hunt up here in Canada... but if you could take 2 secs to write to our Prime Minister and simply say "Stop the seal hunt" and state your name and where you're from... that would be great.

In other news... I'm in the news.

In other news... I was ON the news last night talking about The Oscars. I recorded my clips with my digitial camera *laugh* so the video sucks... but if you look carefully you can see my reflection in the tv. I'm nude... :)

Shac 7 Update HERE!

Baby Kiwi... ha ha ha

The other day Gerry and I went grocery shopping and stopped in our tracks when we saw Baby Kiwis on sale. BABY KIWIS?? We were very excited... but you know what? They're like eating grapes that taste like kiwis. *laugh* I don't know what I was expecting... but baby kiwis taste just like big kiwis only baby. Oh well. They were tasty and Fergus liked them a lot!!

In other news my car... looks good when it's clean.

Monday Magazine

Dear Readers of Monday Magazine,
Thank you sooooo much for taking the time to vote for my cookbook La Dolce Vegan. I was thrilled when I heard I had received both an award for Favourite Book of Nonfiction as well as picking up an award for Most Memorable Literary Event for my book launch party at Lucky Bar last year.
Unfortunately I was unable to make it to the M-Awards due to illness but my buddy Bettina accepted them on my behalf. I was overjoyed when she came to my door with her arms full of awards for me. Thank you again for all the votes.

Hi Sarah!I thought I would send you a photo of my 7 month old son Sam enjoying some of the sensational sun-dried tomato and chick pea soup from Garden of Vegan. He enjoys that recipe as much as we do I think and we've made it often since finding this out!

About last night...

Last night a group of us got together to celebrate my girl Bettina's birthday. Brian blind-folded her and brought her into the Lotus Pond where we were all waiting to yell surprise. The funny thing is... Every year Brian has a surprise party for her *laugh* and every year she's surprised!! :)
I like going out for dinner with my hubby... The gang was all there...
I had a custom comic made for Bettina's birthday... she was very excited.
And then we ate... Mock Duck.
Oh dear lord... Veggie Chow Mein. Sweat and Sour Mock Chicken Balls. (Sweat... *laugh* Oops. Typo on the menu).
Pot Stickers. Won Ton Soup...
There was tons more food but that's all I managed to get photos of before it was inhaled. *laugh*

Then we headed back to Bettina's crash pad where we ate the GIANT double layer birthday cake I made from HIAV. Auntie' Bonnie's Wacky Cake for those of you who are curious.
That Bettina... never misses a photo-op. Put a fork in me...I'm stuffed.

The Joy of Soy

I'm in the National Post today!! If you click on the photo below you can read it... really cute interview. The reporter gave good interview...We had a lot of fun on the phone. :) I'm so exhausted today. I've been painting more walls at the tattoo shop and my arms feel like lead. *laugh* Me so tired... carry me!!

I had a HUGE breakfast yesterday. Yes. I actually ate ALL of that food in one sitting.
Scrambled some tofu with a little "Needs a little extra" spice from LDV (pg 305). Threw in some broc and asparagus, some Tahini on toast and I was ready to go paint. Today I woke up feeling like I ran a marathon.

So I'm off to do a final coat of red before I start on Gerry's studio. MAN!! I'll be glad when all the red is done... ugh.

The Shac 7 have posted a new update on their website about the 2nd week of the trial.

Uh oh. Another update so soon?? How exciting.
First off. I’m coming back to Toronto!!

Hamilton actually... I will a panelist at the McMaster Peace Film Festival on March 13th. I hope you can make it... we’ll be watching a movie, talking, eating and of course I’ll have books for sale and a pen ready to autograph it for you.

So that means Left Feet better look out cause I’m coming in to do some shopping!!

I just did a podcast interview with the delightful Vegan Freaks that will be up and ready for you to listen to on Tuesday Feb 21st. You can listen to it HERE.

I also just did an interview with Vegan Radio. Not sure of when it’s gonna air... so stay tuned to my blog for updates.
