MEAT LOAF

My pal Wendy scored us some freebie tickets to the Meat Loaf concert here in Victoria! I only really know Paradise By The Dashboard Light... but it still should be fun!

Short

Ok
Maybe it's all the traveling I've been doing... (my hair does take up a lot of time in the morning with the blow drying and the blow drying and then more blowdrying) but I'm feeling like hacking off all my hair and going short again.

Any thoughts?
You know how I hate to make a decision without your input. :)

SSOV

For those of you wondering... In the Syracuse photos below I am wearing a SSOV shirt!

Home home home...

Man. Was I ever glad to be up in the air and headed home...

Our flight wasn't on time... so they had to reschedule our connecting flight in Chicago but as a peace offering the ticket woman didn't charge us for our heavy bag (filled with Gerry's books). We were 40lbs over weight. tee hee.

The plane was so skinny.
Gerry and I had fun, despite the fact that he was fighting a cold.
Chicago airport was pretty cool...
They had these bizarre toilets with plastic wrap. You waved your hand in front of it and the plastic wrap would rotate and give you a fresh seat.
We ate all our Indian Leftovers in Chicago waiting for our connection and we couldn't find much to eat in the airport. We did manage to get a couple of Veggie Platters to take on the plane ... but luckily United had a Smart Pack that we could buy.
It was almost vegan... threw out the cheese... but everything else was ok. Sunflower seed butter, crackers (they had honey... so sadly I now have to turn back my vegan-o-meter back to zero). Granola, jam, peach applesauce. It was excellent.
Landed in Seattle... but we weren't home yet. Ugh.
Headed to my cousins house where they made us a yummyliscious meal.

We were so bagged from our long long day that we hit the hay at about 9pm and didn't wake up again until 6am the next morning. That's the one good thing about coming back to the west coast from a trip out east. 6am feels like 9am.... so I felt like I slept in. *laugh*

We hit The Clipper at 8am and by 11am we were home. HOME!! HOME!!!

Little Fergus was quite excited to see us. We dropped our bags, tore off our shoes and all three of us crawled into bed for a nap.Good night nurse.

What a fun trip. Thank you everyone who came to see me for making our visit so fun and exciting. Especially to Norma and her daughter Lisa for hooking us up at The Sheraton in NY. The Moo Shoes Girls for being lovely and wonderful. And Tina & everyone at Syracuse University for being such lovely hosts. I am a lucky girl to have such wonderful people in my life.

Syracuse

Woke up at the crack of dawn and had room service! WOOT!
Oatmeal, dry toast, jam and juice.

Then we hit the airport to head to Syracuse. Well... our gate was supposed to be Gate 25, so we sat there and waited for our flight. Suddenly we heard our names being called over the intercom. Apparently they moved our gate to 23 and didn't tell us... so we almost missed our flight. As I sat down on the plane I thought, I wonder if our bags will make it.

They didn't.

I arrived in Syracuse in sweat pants and a t-shirt. Not a very cute outfit to do a demo in. I was pissed, also in my suitcase was all my demo stuff... As some of you guys know... I always like to have a lot of give-away stuff for the end of the demo, and Vega had very kindly given me a ton of product to give away. I was heartbroken that I wouldn't be able to give the products away to everyone. Wahhhh.

Got picked up by a lovely young man named Andy ... and he very kindly drove me to H&M to pick up something to wear for the demo. Yay Andy!!

Our hotel in Syracuse was ENORMOUS!! Probably as big as our last apartment. *laugh* We had a kitchen, living room and bedroom area. It was insane.

Gerry was really starting to feel sick by this time... so I made him stay in bed and I headed up the hill to do the demo.

Wow. A lot of awesome people showed up and I got to meet some really cool people.

We rocked this photo myspace style!!
LOOK! On the left. It's my hero Andy!!
After the demo a group of us went to an Indian restaurant for dinner (can't remember the name) and a good time was had by all. Our waiter was rad (in the white shirt).

Headed home and asked the front desk to give me a wake up call of 6am. Ugh. Fell asleep around 10:30 only to be rudely woken up by the incorrectly set alarm clock at 12:30am. Ugh. Woke up again at 5am by someone phoning the room and asking for "Mary". Wrong room. Ugh. Woke up at 6am. Ugh. Had room service again (oatmeal, toast, jam and juice) and headed to the airport to go home.

HOME!! I MISS HOME!!

Our last day in NYC

So on our last day in NYC we hit the subway and went to Kate's Joint for breakfast. Gerry and I both had the French Toast. It was ok... I wasn't impressed.

The best part of the breakfast was when I got to meet Lin and Sarah (who tried to come to the book signing at Moo Shoes but had car trouble) so as luck would have it... we bumped into each other and finally got to meet in person!! Look at those bags under my eyes... the lack of sleep and jet lag was starting to catch up to me. Then Gerry and I headed to The Sullivan Bakery and purchased 6 pieces of their Potato Pizza. Headed down to The Late Show to line up for tickets. It was hella cold but I managed to pull out my Fonzi Thumb for the photo. What a trooper I am.
Got our tickets and then headed back to the hotel for a wee nap and ate some pizza. OH MY GOD is it ever good. We ate it all before I got a chance to take a photo. *laugh*

There is a lot of lining up and waiting to get into the Letterman show. You have to line up to get your ticket. Then they sent us all over to The Roseland Theater to line up again to get our seats.Very cool bathrooms in The Roseland. The pre-show warm up is very weird. They get the crowd hyped up and excited by practicing laughing and clapping. We were told not to hoot or holler. Then they make you clap along to the music by telling you that if you're energetic you will get a good seat.

By the time Paul Shaeffer and his band came out I felt like at trained monkey. I was clapping and laughing on cue at things that weren't even funny... it was weird.

Dave ran out on stage a few minutes before the show and talked to the audience... that was pretty cool. I was in total shock at how SMALL the Ed Sullivan Theater is. It looks HUGE on tv, but in reality it's a wee little stage and the theater only seats about 500 people. We were about 4 rows up from the front. It was pretty great watching it go on in front of me live...

Couldn't get any shots in the theater (VERY STRICT) but I managed to get a shot as we walked out the exit. *laugh*Jim Carrey looked like he had Manorexia. He is WAY too skinny... but when I watched the show later on TV he didn't look as skinny. I guess it's true what they say about tv adding 10 lbs.

After the show Gerry and I headed to HanGawi Restaurant. This is probably my favourite place to eat in NYC. What a crazy food experience... I went there last year with The Moo Shoes Girls and was so enchanted that I just HAD to go back with Gerry.

We had The Emperor's meal and I have no idea what I was eating... but every dish was incredible. You start with a porridge. Gerry had Pumpkin and I think I had Sweet Corn and Spinach. I need to figure out how they make this... I could eat this every day.
A noodle salad came after.
Then some kind of pancakes. I think this was a fried mushroom thingy.

A fried Tofu thingy. This was our main course. And the meal ended with a cinnamon ginger apple broth...
That place is perfection.
