I just found $10 in my pocket.
I love it when that happens...

Ghost Whisperer
If you're in Victoria and you need a real estate agent... Dominique Tregurtha is the one to get. She's lovely, funny, totally listens to your needs and is the most organized person I have ever met. She has made this entire experience a total breeze. She works for SUTTON and you can contact her HERE.
So I'm fairly sure there's some sort of ghost type thing in the new condo. The first time we went and looked at it there was one spot in the house that every time I stood near it I would feel a little dizzy and sick to my stomach. I would move ... feel better. Go back to the spot... feel sick. I don't even believe in ghosts... but I sure was feeling something.
When we went back for a 2nd viewing the same thing happened. Sick and dizzy in that certain spot. So as inspected all the nooks and crannies I kept thinking to myself "I really love your house. Please don't be scared of us."
Gerry, Dominique and I sat in the kitchen and decided to put an offer in. Dominique suggested we start low and while we discussing what price to start with I swear to you that I had a specific number forced into my head while we were all talking. I dismissed it and went with Dominique's suggestion since it was lower than the number that was rattling around in my head. I do love a good barter.
She left to talk to the other realtor and called us back with their counter. Ooooh. We were excited. They went down in price by $8000. Gerry was ready to settle on the spot but that specific number was still bouncing around in my head so I asked Dominique to counter with that number. She called back a few minutes later and asked if we'd take $1000 above what our final counter was. We shrieked with glee and said YES YES YES! We got the place for $10 000 less than the asking price! Did I mention that I LOVE A GOOD BARTER!!
The place was ours. Wow. Watching all those house buying shows on HGTV really helped. *laugh* And you gotta give props to Ghosty for the bartering tip.
So now I'm hoping that Ghosty has moved on ... but if they haven't ... what should I do? I don't really believe in ghosts but on the other hand I've had lots of weird ghost type experiences in my life so maybe I should just go with it and realize that all these experiences add up to something.
Maybe I'm like Jennifer Love Hewitt in The Ghost Whisperer but without the fantastic cleavage.
A friend suggested that we enter the house and say "We don't need you here anymore. Thank you!" and see if that works. Do you guys have any ghost experiences??

Demo
I have 2 demos coming up in Sept (more details soon) but I can't do the Rene's Tomato Soup Cake anymore... I've done it too much.
WHAT SHOULD I DEMO?? It needs to be fairly easy but most importantly it needs to be served to the public so it has to be easily served. I'm so at a loss. Rene's Tomato Soup Cake has served me so well these last few years! IDEAS? Anyone?

My day so far...
Well... I wanted to sleep in today but woke up at 7am because of construction noises. CURSES! I can't wait to frickin MOVE TO OUR NEW PLACE!!
My wonderful Monkey Husband gave me a great present today...
A spa day with a hot rock massage, I am so stoked! I can't decide if I should do it now and get all this "buying a house stress" out of my shoulders or if I should wait and get all my "painting and renoing the new house stress" out of my shoulders. What a wonderful predicament to be in!!
He also gave me a diamond encrusted teddy bear necklace. It's so gangsta!
I'm trying really hard to be gangsta in this photo... maybe I need a diamond encrusted eyepatch like this guy in order to get the full effect.

Floors
So our plan is to get that carpet up and out and put down new floors before we move in. I'm wondering if you guys could share your flooring experiences with us. We're looking at laminate and engineered wood options. There is SO much choice out there it's hard to decide. Any tips?
I think it will look nice with floors... :)

Holy!
So I've been terribly busy buying a NEW CONDO!!

Well actually it's not a new condo. The building was built in 1975 and is a bit of a time capsule as you'll see from the photos *laugh* A friend commented that it looks like we're moving into an old folks home but it has great bones and we're very excited to put our own stamp on things.
So here we have our wee little balcony. Not big, but big enough for the 2 of us to sit in the evenings and drink a chilled glass of bubbly water and watch the sun go down.

We get late afternoon sun and is a corner suite so the place feels really light and airy.
This is the 2nd bedroom which we will be turning into our bedroom. It's nice and little and will be a perfect little cave for sleeping. We like a small dark room to sleep in...
This is the crazy huge master bedroom which I am turning into the photo studio/office.

There are 2 bathrooms and they both look like this. Circa 1975. So hilarious. I can't wait to get all DIY construction in here!!
Lastly the most important room of the place. The Kitchen. It looks like the 1970's threw up in here... luckily the appliances are fairly new and not avocado green. :)
Please note the suspended florescent light ceiling. That will be the first thing to go. Then the tiles. Then the floor. Then some much needed paint on those cabinets...
The kitchen is a great size with lots of counter space for me to work in. It's gonna be fun turning this kitchen into my dream kitchen. I can't wait.
I'll post more photos as we start the renos. I can't believe I'm excited to start painting... *laugh* Didn't I say I'd never paint again?

THANK YOU!
Thanks to Wiebke and her connection to Carla who is connected to Colin at CBC Vancouver I have tracked down 5 episodes of my Mum's show and am getting them on DVD.You have no idea how thrilled I am. My Mum passed away when I was 10 and I am lucky enough to have a cassette tape of her voice and some silent super 8 movies but to be able to see her walking and talking on a dvd is so exciting. I can't even put into words how thrilled I am to see these dvd's!! This is such a special gift. Today rules!!
Thank you everyone!!

cbc
Does anyone out there in internet land work for The CBC? I am trying to get my hands on some video tape of a children's show my Mum did in the 70's called Sue's Place. I've contacted the CBC archives and the CBC many times but no one will return my call... grrrrr.
Anyone out there able to do a little digging for me? I'll make it worth your while... :)

Tings
OH MY GOD!For those vegans out there who miss the yummy goodness of Cheezies and/or Popcorn twists... fret no more.
Tings have rocked my world. I don't know if they're new to the market or perhaps I live in a junk food cave but these Tings have satisfied a place in my vegan tummy that was longing for junk food from my childhood.
Run down to your local store or buy them online here.

I've been tagged!
So great...

In other news Gerry and I had "craft night" where I decoupaged a collection of stamps I've had since grade school (don't ask) to a wooden box and Gerry painted fancy designs on a purse I bought for $1 at a garage sale.
Craft night was fun... and now I have a box covered in stamps to hold all the rest of my stamp collection.

my life
Sometimes my life is way more complicated than it needs to be...
I need to figure out how to simplify. I also need to stop using shopping as a way to make me feel better.
