Went for a walk with Gerry and the dog tonight and saw a deer trit-trotting down the road. Not a country road. A residential downtown road.
I've seen cats, mice, rats, lots of raccoons but never a deer. It was very exciting, but I wish he was in the woods where he belongs. Poor deer.
We stood and stared at each other for a long time ... what a beauty.

I hear ya!
I live in an area that is only a twenty min walk from downtown, and yet lately I see deer all the time!
Yes, my neighbourhood has lots of trees and shrubs and places for deer to hide...but still, so close to town?
Although I love seeing them, and adore that quiet moment of watching each other, it makes me sad that we have taken up so much space that now they are forced to live so close to us.
Last fall we saw a buck running down our street...chased by a cat.
Poor guy!
