I had a garage sale today ... and I'm quite upset. I was selling all 5 of my Spice Girls (Mint In Box) and some woman had the NERVE to just buy Ginger. She broke up the band!! I even offered to give her all 5 Spice Girls for a very small reasonable price just to keep them together but she insisted on just taking Ginger.

I should have kicked her off my property for being so rude ... but I took the $$ and will use it for therapy instead. :)

Bumblebee

You remember Bumblebee from my trip to Denver don't you?? Well I commissioned Gerry to do a painting of her for her humans (The Wimmers) and it turned out brilliant. My is husband awesome!

4 year olds suck...

I was at the park on the weekend with my niece and nephew and this little 4 year old girl came over to talk to us. She asked us all sorts of questions like what my nephews name was. How come we were on the swings. Could we push her... etc etc. Then she asked my niece if I was her grandmother. I almost died on the spot.

My niece insists it's the color of my hair that confused this 4 year old demon girl... kids suck. :)

Oprah

So I don't know if you heard ... but Oprah is going vegan for 21 days.

I love Oprah. You don't understand. I LOVE OPRAH!! I've never missed a show. I know you think I'm exaggerating but since she first aired in Sept of 1986 I have been a rabid fan. 4pm is Oprah time. Everyone knows not to disturb me during my "Oprah time".

So yesterday when she started talking about her vegan cleanse and wondering about what she was going to eat, I was YELLING at the television that she needs me and my books.

So today I am using the power of The Secret (Oprah told me about it) to visualize myself on her show. It has happen. No wait. Let me visualize it. It WILL HAPPEN!!


Here's where you come in my loyal readers. Let's get the e-mails flying and get me on Oprah. Not only can this be a wonderful opportunity for me to show Oprah that vegan food is fun, easy and delicious but an opportunity to reach MILLIONS of people who are unfamiliar with how amazing vegan food can be!

If you could take a few minutes to write to Oprah about me and the books and how the books have impacted your life ... perhaps that will be the little push it will take to make my visualizations a reality. Please tell your friends, ask your neighbors. Let's make this happen!!

Tattoos are the new day off!

Monday is our Sunday and Gerry and I were going to go to the museum - but since it was a holiday weekend the line-up was stupid long so we walked away wondering what to do with our day off.

WHAT TO DO?? Let's tattoo! So we ran down to the shop, I dropped my pants and we did session 2 of a 3 session tattoo on my leg.

Well I hurt my neck painting the bathroom... yeesh. Heating pad, ice, heating pad, ice and a bunch of Tiger Balm later I'm feeling a little better. So what do I do to celebrate? We go on nice long bike ride down the Galloping Goose Trail. FUN!

I put MAJOR sunblock all over me (painted ladies have to protect their tattoos) but I forgot one spot. The back of my neck. Now I have a nice red neck. OH NO! I'm a Red Neck!

Fergus rode in my basket most of the way ... but there was one long stretch (away from any cars) where we let him run beside us, he was soooo pooped by the time we got home!! :)
It was an amazing day ... thank you Gerry for making me ride my bike. :)

FINALLY...

So I finally figured out what I'm going to do for my 40th birthday.

I've been racking my brain trying to think of different ways to celebrate this milestone of a birthday and when I boiled it down I finally realized I just wanted to do something with my family.

So I'm going to spend a romantic weekend away with my hubby and we're going to see Cirque Du Soleil! Woo hoo!

Rhubarb Apple Ginger Crumble...

I had Rhubarb Apple Ginger Crumble for breakfast. It has oats in it... it counts as a breakfast food right?

Paint

For those of you wondering... I painted the bathrooms white. Boring yes, but both bathrooms have zero natural light so I wanted it to be as bright as possible in there! ;)

My arms are soooo tired and sore ...

... from the painting. I have 2 more walls and the ceiling to go and I should be done. The next job I have to tackle is painting all the baseboards in the house. I've been meaning to do that since we had the floors done when we moved in and that was almost a year ago! Eeek! That should go fairly fast and not be so strenuous... I hope.

So every night after our walk with the dog - we check the basement for squatters. In the basement is an old couch and Fergus likes to rub his stink all over it (he doesn't stink). What is he doing? Do all dogs do this? What is it for? I mean it looks like it feels good. It looks like it's fun ... but what's the point?

Maybe the lesson is that there is no point and just to enjoy. Anyhoo... it's the best part of my day and it makes me beyond happy to watch him snuffle and snort.

bathroom woes...

I've been painting the bathroom for 2 days... who knew that such a small room could be so fracking hard to paint. Grrrrrrrr.

Napping...

I have a napping problem. Almost every day around "Oprah time" (4pm) I find myself falling asleep. I think I've had a nap almost every day this week. My step-mum Denise says that it's part of turning 40. *laugh*

Am I going to start eating my dinner at 3pm?? Will I start waking up with the birds? Eeek! Help me! I can not stop napping!!

Hardcore Chef

So when I was in Denver for Veg Fest I met Kerry Weber. He has a dvd called Vegan Cooking for Animal Lovers. I finally had a chance to watch it today and I hope Kerry invites me to do a show with him. I think it would be fun. ;)

A friend dropped off a wack-load of rhubarb and I immediately made a pie. Gosh it's good.

Ahhh crap. Judging from my inbox my vacation is now over.

I love it...

... when you have all your windows open and it's so warm out that you forget they're open because the temperature outside is just as warm as inside. Ahhhh.

Busy doing nothing...

I've had a bit of a vacation from VAGG since I handed in my manuscript. I've been using the time to not do much of anything but just chillax and re-charge my batteries - basically lots of laying around and day dreaming.
But now as I sit down to write I realize I've been really busy. *laugh*

I had a lovely visit with my parents who were in town briefly. I also had a nice visit with Sarah and Adam from Tattoodles. We went to Mo:Le for dinner and it was YUM as usual! I went and saw my friend Anne Schaefer perform at Alix Goolden Hall (which is an fantastic space to hear music).
Gerry and I rented Lars and The Real Girl which I loved loved loved and not just because it had my "back up husband" Ryan Gossling in it. Well maybe....

I also received an AMAZING painting by my friend Maria who painted this painting based on a photograph I took in an art gallery in New York. I freaking love it!!
Yesterday Gerry and I cleaned all our windows and screens. This meant climbing on ladders wielding squeegees. Holy did it ever make a difference washing off all the winter sludge ... now our place feels brighter and lighter.

And last night we went and saw Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr. I quite enjoyed it.

I wonder what I'll do today... :)
